Aura Apart lets guests book serviced apartments directly, without a portal in the middle. We designed, built and operate the platform: a programmatic site covering 2,033 German cities in three languages, and the booking engine behind it.
The challenge
People search for serviced apartments the way they actually travel — a city, a length of stay, a number of people, a reason for the trip. That is four questions asked at once, and a conventional site answers them with a search box, which no search engine can read.
Every one of those combinations had to exist as a real page, in three languages, without the site collapsing into half a million templates with a swapped noun. And the booking had to complete on Aura Apart's own platform — handing the guest, the data and the margin to a portal was the thing the project existed to stop.
What we built
Four crossed dimensions, not four hundred files
Amenities, group size, region and guest type each became an axis, crossed with 2,033 German cities and the season. The route tree is 35 page files; the URL space it generates is 487,936. Adding a fifth axis is a data change, not a rebuild.
Something true about every place
A page that knows only the name of the city is the thinnest page it is possible to publish. Each location page carries a real fact about that place, so the depth of the site is content rather than permutation — which is the difference between a long tail that earns and one that just costs crawl budget.
An in-house booking engine
The direct booking path runs on Aura Apart's own backend: availability, pricing, confirmation mail, digital check-in and the guest review flow. No third-party channel owns the guest relationship or takes a cut of a booking the client earned themselves.
A sitemap that refuses to lie
487,936 URLs across 56 sitemap files, every one of them held under Google's 50,000-URL ceiling. The endpoint asserts both silent failures — a section that builds zero URLs, and one that has grown past the cap — because each publishes perfectly valid XML while quietly costing you the index.
Three languages, one content model
German, English and French come from the same content model rather than three parallel sites, so a new market is a locale entry and a translation pass — not a second codebase to keep in sync.
Measured results
The Search Console property was verified on 2 August 2026. Over the next 25 days the site went from 9 impressions on its first day to 56,338 impressions and 1,559 clicks — a 2.77% click-through rate at an average position of 13.9.
The shape of that traffic matters more than the total. 20,815 individual pages earned impressions and 1,363 of them earned at least one click. The single best-performing page accounts for 0.8% of all clicks, the top ten together for 3.2%, the top hundred for 16.2%. Which means 83.8% arrives on pages outside the top hundred: no ranking here is load-bearing, so losing any one of them changes nothing.
On the site itself that became 6,486 pageviews from 2,094 visitors, 74.9% of them from organic search — and 29 visits already arriving from AI search assistants. Between 6 and 27 August the contact form took 21 enquiries, a 1.04% enquiry rate.
The first 24 days in Search Console
Daily figures from the day the property was verified. Impressions and clicks are drawn separately because they sit on different scales — a single chart with two axes would flatter both.
What this case study does not claim
Three things a reader could otherwise assume. We would rather state them than be caught on them.
- No completed bookings have come through the site yet. The 14 booking rows in the database are all cancelled and cluster on the days the booking system was being built — they are test reservations, not customers. No revenue or booking figure is quoted anywhere above.
- The 28 reviews averaging 4.93 out of 5 were imported from the existing Airbnb listings. They are not a result of this site.
- Google anonymises long-tail queries: only 4.4% of clicks are visible on the query dimension. Every total above is therefore taken from the page dimension or an undimensioned query, never from the query list.
How these numbers were measured
Figures measured on 28 August 2026 from three sources: the Google Search Console API (property sc-domain:aura-apart.com, page dimension, 2–26 August 2026), Umami, and the aura-apart.com product database. The Search Console window begins on the first day the property holds data — earlier days are absent because the property was verified then, not because the site had no traffic. Scale figures were read from the live sitemap index the same day. The full measurement is archived at global-assets/data/case-studies/aura-apart-facts-2026-08-28.json and is reproducible with global-assets/scripts/aura_case_study_facts.py.
Scale and quality are usually presented as a trade-off. This is the counter-example: close to half a million URLs, and 83.8% of the clicks landing on pages outside the top hundred. Nothing here depends on a single ranking holding. What made the difference was not volume — it was that each page answers a question somebody actually typed, and that the enquiry arrives on the client's own platform rather than a portal's.
